2 minutes at 2GB is still quite a lot... are you recording at 30fps or 60fps?

Not tried your settings yet tho.
RTV1 video codec generally creates a larger file, almost as large as uncompressed video. You're better off using MJPG for video compression. As you can see from my videos, there isn't much loss of quality.
Yer noticed that, just changed it now. using same settings has you apart from I'll leave mine at 720p for now. will record at 1080p make much difference from 720p on performance?
Also should I disable vsync while recording you think?
I record on Sniper Elite V2 at max graphical settings with MSI Afterburner with the settings I gave and I get no performance issues whatsoever, it's as if i'm not even recording. With the specifications on your rig from your signature I would assume you could do the same.
Once I start recording my FPS go's to 40/45/50I notice the performance loss with or without vsync also.
I usually have vsync on for all my games to reduce screen tearing.
Check out d3doverider with triple buffering and v-sync instead of in-game v-sync, much better performance.

I heard that recording to a secondary internal hard drive decreases performance loss to some extent; as making the primary hard drive load textures/parts of maps while recording in a lossless format bottlenecks the HDD. However, I could be wrong.
Bf3 has screen tear lol with D3DOverrider
