Hi
I installed fresh copy of windows and one of my 1TB harddrives needs formatting before I can excess it again
I don't want to format it as it contains files I want to keep,
I've tried changing letters of the drive and different sata ports but it still
wont let me excess it.
Is there a program I can use to recover this raw file?

thanks in advance

It says you need to format the disk in drive f: before you can use it

Hey there no_name.

You could try the HDD with a different computer as well, to see of the same thing happens. Also you could try to access it via Linux Live CD/USB, to see if the partition is properly recognized and if you can get to your files. Sometimes Linux may prevail and recognize the file system of a corrupted partition whereas Windows is unable. The other options are pretty standard - try some data recovery programs or a professional solution, such as a data recovery company.

Hope that helps. Please let me know how everything goes.

Hey Boogieman_WD
I don't have another computer to try it on , I've been trying out icaredata recovery which allows you to recover only 10 files max ...but its seems to be stuck halfway thru for over 6 hours ...so wondering if there a better free software I can use that will allow me to recover all my files and not just 10?
I'm trying out Linux at atm

I'm sorry, but as an official Western Digital representative, I can't really give you any direct recommendations towards a specific data recovery program, but @KIA has some pretty good suggestions which you could try.

Please keep us in the loop on your progress.
