Recover data without re-infecting?

A friend of mine has an old laptop hard drive which has been replaced. However it's got the Win32.Zafi.B worm and she wants the data from the drive.

I have a 2.5" IDE enclosure, but I want to minimise the risk of infecting my own machine.

I don't have the time to install a linux distro and I'm unaware of any other methods of attaching the drive without risking reinfection.

I'm only running AVG but I'm not silly enough to click links in unfamiliar emails etc which is why I've never needed any more protection. I'll have a look around for something a little better.
