Recovering data from flash drive

My brother in law just had his USB flash drive die on him and he really needs to get the data off it. I told him to try Recuva but that complained about the MBR and went no further.

Any ideas?

A quick update. Tried Photorec and no joy. It didn't find anything.

Any other ideas?

If you can't get the data from it but want to be able to use the drive again (not sure whether it won't let you format it or not), you should check out the article I posted on this thread, which will walk you through recovering the drive. Bear in mind, this is only for AFTER you realize whether or not the data is recoverable and if you cannot do a simple reformat.
