Recovering HD Data

Hey folks,

My laptop has packed in all together and i have 2 x 160gb hardrives that was in it that im hoping to be able to recover as ive got photos etc on them. Ive tried attaching a sata cable to them and them to my pc but its not doing anything! Is there a way to do this?

Did you plug a power cable in to them as well?

This would be better off in General Hardware.

You want something like one of these..
Imo everybody that conciders themselves a techie should have one!
It converts any SATA hard drive into a USB drive, and it's very easy to change between drives.

At that price I think Id rather just open up my PC and hook the drive up via SATA cable.

To the OP:
DId you connect the SATA power cable as well as the data cable?

Are they appearing in the BIOS?

I would connect up the HDD on a secondary SATA channel and then run Get Data Back. However are you saying both drives are not detected by the PC?

just opened the case and connected it! So i dont think there would be any need for an adapter? Is the only benefit really for people who are doing this all the time?

google "backup computer data" once you have a copy of all your data back....
