recovering saved passwords from Firefox

Ensure you dont use the drive anymore than you already have. Run a recovery program and look for files in the C:\Users\xxxx\AppData\roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\profiles directory. xxx being your username. However after reinstalling windows there is a high chance it has already been over written.

Bookmarks and Browsing History
places.sqlite
This file contains all your Firefox bookmarks and the list of websites you have previously visited. For more information see How to use bookmarks to save and organize your favorite websites.

Passwords
Your passwords are stored in two different files, both of which are required:

key3.db - This file stores your key database for your passwords. To transfer saved passwords, you must copy this file along with the following file.
signons.sqlite - Saved passwords.

Oher files you should get if you can find them in the directory
Files:
cert8.db
chromeappsstore.sqlite
content-prefs.sqlite
cookies.sqlite
formhistory.sqlite
key3.db
mimeTypes.rdf
permissions.sqlite
persdict.dat
places.sqlite
signons.sqlite
signons3.txt (if exists)
webappsstore.sqlite

If you find them i guess the next step would be to follow this http://kb.mozillazine.org/Transferring_data_to_a_new_profile_-_Firefox
