Recovery from IDE Mac drive

Got a drive at work from an G4 Mac that has died. Last time this happened, I was able to put it in the PC and use recovery software to get the data back. This time, it is more problematic as it's not even being recognised in BIOS. It does spin up though.

Is there anything I can try other than send it off to a data recovery place?
