Recurring dream - Does such a place exist?

Are you asking if there are any islands in the world which are close to one another?

I was asking slightly more than that... I realise there are probably a great number of volcanic islands in close proximety however I wanted to know if there exists any that are safe to swim between i.e. I don't want to get swept away by tidal currents and die as that was unsuprisingly not part of the dream!

Thanks for the suggestions... Strangely enough i haven't watched 'The Beach' or a single episode of Castaway/Lost. I certainly played Far-Cry which was of course set on an lush island however.

Because you'll be sucked out to sea never to be seen again. Some of the strongest currents in the world in that area. I went scuba diving in one of the channels and it was brutal, you couldn't swim against it with flippers!

Edit - I also went scuba diving off Komodo.... Let me tell you, few things are more terrifying than seeing bubbles go straight down

As said, Thailand has this. It's would be very realistic to visit, I'm currently living here for £200-300 per month :D

Hi

This is a very random thread but is something that has bugged me for a few years now. Thus, it is a perfect time to open it up to the good people of overclockers!

O.K, so for many years now I have been having a recurring dream. This isn't a nightmare at all, in fact it is quite the opposite. The dream is very simple, I am on holiday, on a tropical island with very few people on it... The island is lush, green and tropical, the sea is aquamarine blue and a perfect temperature for swimming... I am fit, well, and generally in a very good place in my life and have not a worry in the world... I am perfectly relaxed and just look forward to enjoying my holiday on the island. The most vivid memory from the dream however relates to me embarking on a leisurely (but lengthy) swim between the island I find myself on and a neighbouring island... It is not like swimming the channel etc. as I can easily see the island I am swimming towards and my destination is probably no more than a couple of miles away or so. The sun and sea are relaxing and my mind is perfectly at peace as I swim from one island paradise to another.

OK, so that's the dream. The question is, does anywhere exist like this on planet earth i.e somewhere were you can (relatively easily) swim between adjoining islands? Furthermore, is it a place that is realistic for me to visit? I'm not poor but I'm not a millionaire! From a bit of googling I realise that swimming between islands separated by sea can be impossible as tidal currents etc can makes things horribly treacherous. Horever maybe an extended inland lagoon would fit my criteria just as well?

OK so thats my dream... Any ideas where I could make it happen?

OMG !!! This is amazing.... I too have a similar dream where I'm stinking rich but am also travelling between the Islands on my speed boat. I hear a thud/crunching from the rear propellers and rush to take the wheel from the stupid bimbo. Slowly turning around I see a pool of blood in the water which I assumed was some sort of fish.... Fortunately no champagne has been spilt and I spank the blonde's bum and head on to the next island.

I too would love to make this a reality - Please OcUK help us locate this

I have the same dream, but with a plane crash, no island, no sea, no swimming and my garden. Come to think of it, that's actually not the same dream.

Bit of a thread hijack, but I'm curious about something...

I very occasionally have dreams where I'm standing somewhere and my dream self has a memory of being there before. When I wake up, I remember the dream, and I remember my dream-self having a whole lifetime of memories (including the location in question) and it's seriously weird! I don't remember any of these dream-self memories specifically, but I'm aware of having lived a whole life that never actually existed. In the last one, I was standing by a lake and looking at this castle which extended out into the water. I remember having some fond memories of this place and feeling emotional about it. When I woke up I was still feeling the emotions - and the sense of my dream-self's "history" - and it was very perplexing!

Anybody else get this?

Avoid these two on the island:

Dreaming about an island can mean this, (Thats if you believe in it).

Island

To see or dream that you are on an island, signifies a state of mind where you're having thoughts and feelings about being isolated, lonely, on your own, or stranded in life. You are all by yourself with problem or a situation.

Alternatively, an island may point to situations where you feel independent, self-directed, and autonomous. You are symbolically an island on to yourself.
To dream of an island being engulfed by the sea represents feelings of being overwhelmed by a negative situation or uncertainty while you face a problem on your own.
