Red Alert 3 Beta

I got this email this morning :)

For those who are asking how and why etc;

Just go and buy a copy of Kanes Wrath (The C&C3 expansion pack) it has a beta key in it, and you can register up until September!)

Go on! The more feedback, the better the game will be, although saying that, does EA really listen? :P

MOH: Airborne is proof positive they dont listen to a damn word. Over a year before that game released ea wanted feedback on what should be in the mp component of the game, not one thing that the MOH community suggested made it in, was released without a dedicated server etc.
 
Been playing the 'Friends & Family' (Fileplanet) Beta. Awesome game, feels and plays a lot like RA2 which has to be my favourite C&C game to date.

As Strike212 said, both are superb, however ra1 can be annoying if you're used to modern RTS, for example you need to create the units one by one without being able to que up. Back in the old days this wasn't a problem as games like AOE1 had the same thing...

Now it may be a bit annoying. The gfx are dated but still look well imo, the thing that annoys me most though is the stupid movement ai, when you move your own units some decide to take utterly stupid paths killing themselves or ignoring new orders...

That aside it's still a great game, if you're not too annoyed by it you will like it I reckon, has a superb soundtrack too...


Now RA2, is exactly like RA, but a bit less serious, and less nostalgic...
But it is far more refined, it plays superb for it's age, it runs great, it's great fun in multiplayer, and has an equally superb soundtrack. The story is fun to play and the cutscenes like in RA1 are nice to watch. It has much less annoying things, and won't be annoying at all if you're coming from the modern RTS. Imo it's generally a better game but for me, ra1 still somehow manages to be equally fun to play, probably because I played it when I was such a little boy :p...
