Last year there was always the hope that there would be further progress (all pinned on Honda, of course, because the car was so great). This year it is evident that the car is converging with Williams, competing for the bottom of the grid, and that their development path is clearly not working. They've now admitted that there's no correlation between wind tunnel and actual performance. Staff are ****** off at being given Freddos as a pat on the back, are disgruntled with senior management, have been asked to make constructive suggestions as to how to improve competent performance by carving them in wood, and the company is on a fast track to make their leading driver look like he was happy at Ferrari in comparison.
They're an absolute shower at the moment, and you have to feel for the normal employees. This is far more than a decision about an engine, this is hundreds and thousands of decisions upon decisions that have led to what must fast be becoming the worst performing McLaren per £ invested ever. Imagine being an engineer who's worked his / her way up through the teams and landed a dream job at McLaren, only to be royally spanked by a rookie in Sauber on race weekends.
