Pratt sets 'record' for red card
Non-league football

Chippenham Town striker David Pratt is thought to have set a new world record after being sent off only three seconds into his side's loss at Bashley.

Pratt, 21, lunged at Bashley midfielder Chris Knowles straight from the kick-off and received his marching orders from referee Justin Amey.

Chippenham secretary George McCaffrey admitted: "You normally won't meet a milder man, but David lost it."

Bashley went on to win the Southern Premier Division match 2-1.

Bashley boss Steve Riley said: "The lad's gone in with his studs showing and went straight through my player. It was a potential leg-breaker. The ref had no choice."

Knowles was able to continue playing after the tackle.

Bologna's Giuseppe Lorenzo held the previous record for the quickest red card, at 10 seconds.

I like the slightly bemused grin of his team mate watching. :D

3 seconds is unbelievable though, there must have been some winding up beforehand or some other sort of previous as unless you're completely deranged you simply couldn't get up enough animosity from kick-off to go for a tackle that would warrant a red card.

maybe he was after the world record so was like right im gunna jump in immediatly n get myself in the guiness book of records :P its a claim to fame....

I do remember playing in a sunday league match once.

It nearly got called off twice, because the ref was being chased around the pitch by players and managers.

2 players were hospitalised, and blatent fouls went completely un-punished. I decided that it would be the last game i played for that team. (I used to play in goal when i was young, and my brothers team were short, so i helped out)

I got taken out in a match once, i nutmegged this fat guy, pushed the ball to far through his legs so i had to tackle this other guy almost straight away to get it back, so i went in quite hard (no foul, took the ball and cleaned the guy out) i then passed the ball infield and about 3 seconds later the fat came flying in at knee height and nearly broke my leg.

I got sent off for calling him a cheating fat **** and taking a swing at him, and he got nothing.
Go figure.

Now my town has claim to fame :D :p

Neil.
Have you ever been? They've just sacked their record signing because he was sent off playing 5 a side at home in Newport and earlier this season after they'd beaten the title favourites the away manager headbutted his own striker and made a proper mess of his face!

Randomly, I regularly play against Cortez Belle, and Ashley Williams for that matter, as they play in the same 7-a-side league as me.

I did something similar in FIFA International Soccer (1994) when playing with my brother. We both did a professional foul from the kick off and we both took the striker down but I got sent off. Good times.

cant say ive ever got myself sent off in a match, ive always known the boundry between a bad tackle n a good one i think haha. ive also never really got into any fights tho there have been a fair few between other players on my team n the opponents haha.
