this would be my favourite coincidence ever, but you're not in Reading, by any chance are you?

Nope, I'm in Musselburgh, East Lothian. Sorry to disappoint you. ;)

Pity, those 'small-world' type coincidences are great. :p

Have you heard any of his solo material?
I have yeah, and like Navarro's efforts it's really not that good. As band members they both excel without doubt, I just happen to prefer Navarro head and shoulders above Frusciante.

Have you heard any of his solo material? He's a far better guitarist than Dave 'The Crotch' Navarro. Check out 'Carvel' from Shadows Collide with People.

As for that new track - pretty good :) I'll be interested to hear more.

you're so wrong. have you heard Niandra Lades but Usually Just a Tshirt? i'm sorry, but if anyone else would've tried to release an album like that, they'd have had their heads repeatedly stamped on and then sent directly to a) jail for doing waaay too much heroin or b) rehab for doing waaaay too much heroin.

in particular, one of his standout atrocities is "my smile is a rifle". if you havent had a listen, educate yourself. it's thoroughly awful.

as far as his solo stuff goes, he started and stopped being good with "to record only water for 10 days" which actually has some amazing songs on...it's very electronic and layered and i actually enjoy that album a lot. in particular, the ~2minute "ramparts" is a fantastic little ditty. little being the operative word. there's also a couple of good tracks on SCWP but as far as albums go, it's not really worthy of the deal he got with it. and you cant seriously tell me that his 4 most recent efforts are anything special either.

Dave Navarro on the other hand, is consitently good and original (in my opinion). he's something of a riff-master, and (something which can only go in his favour) he doesnt spend all day ripping off hendrix.

it'd have been an awesome coincidence, as the person i had in mind was my ex girlfriend - and i used to constantly jibe her about her unfathomable love of Mr. Hendrante

Sweet Home Alabama

What a rip off.

It does sound a bit like it at the start, yeah. All RHCP songs sound the same to me after a while though. :o

I know a girl who is a mad Frusciante fan, and it's going to annoy her. :p

She's just seen it...she's not very happy with me, lol. :p

:edit:

Actually, I don't mind that song, I like the chorus bit. Still maintain that all RHCP songs sound pretty similar. ;)
