I've only played it a little but it seems to have a very much alive community. The new release of a mod for it through steam should help that also.
 
Yup considering that its over 2 years old there are still more than enough people online to play also with Darkest hour (RO mod) being released today theres loads of people playing that as well.

If your looking for a good realistic multiplayer shooter they're aint much better than RO.
 
Iv had the game since release, lot of people do play it still, but one thing i will tell you about it now, its not a pick up and play game, it takes a good while to get into the game because of the intense realism, its not your average fps put it that way.

He's quite right. You may go through an entire game and not kill anyone. You will get shot loads and not know where it came from.

If you like a bit of realism in an FPS game you will ignore the graphics and admire the intensity this game brings. I recommend downloading Darkest Hour, its a great addon.

The tank map are absolutely huge, i recommend infantry maps to get used to it.

RO is not for every fps player. As mentioned above there is a steep learning curve and engine limitation can be annoying.

That said its is one of best games I've played online that immerses you in what could believably be a very intense battle field.

Darkest Hour is a great mod so I believe you can't really go wrong with such a small investment.
 
RO is amazing!
So immersive!

Nothing like having a smoke, putting the 5.1 surround sound headphones on, and crawling around in RO :D
 
We should organise a little RO-DH night maybe this Friday, get a group of us together on a server with mics and play the game properly. Hopefully without tank maps.

Lots of people still play this, a handful of servers are full 24/7. There was a mod released on steam just a few days ago called Darkest Hour, adds some very nice things, new suppression effects which rock, bazooka teams, artillery teams and improved MG tracers and sound effects.

Well worth it.

If your looking for someone to play this with online me and markopolo are always looking for people to join us.
