Just a heads up really that Red Snapper direct has an offer on some of their tripods and I've just nabbed RS-324 & RSH-528 Head for £107 inc del which seemed a bargain considering competing tripods of similar spec were ~£150+

If linking to them is not allowed then I apologise but a deal like this needs to be shared :)

I especially like the shorter pole it comes with for really low compositions which I'll be making extensive use of!

Mine will arrive tomorrow so will post thoughts then :)

Currently using a Slik Master Classic which will end up being used for accessory holding.

Good to hear that! My Googling resulted in another thread about these from 2009, surprised not many more review sites have them on though!

Oh and the reason I got it in the first place

:D

Been having a play and I am impressed, the bag as mentioned by someone else is immense, padded, large and with a pocket inside to hold the longer pole and handle/tool.

It's about as rigid as my Slik Master Classic... But the Slik is all Steel, this is more comfortable to sling over the shoulder thanks to the padded legs. Also there's finer adjustment although the Slik feels more powerful due to having less moving parts.

I'll have to get a ball head at some point too as I feel the 3 way head might limit me a bit in some situations.

Having been through several industrial sites with it and been out in the open I'm completely satisfied with it (the tripod) and while the 3 way head that came with the offer on the 324 tripod is very tough it just didn't have enough movement in all directions that I wanted hence the ball head purchase today.

I have never heard of Red Snapper but will definitely be recommending these tripods to people when asked and everyone who's seen mine so far has given praise to the build quality and solid professional feel and features :)

This review (My focus was the ball head as that's what I've bought and will pair with the 324 tripod) kind of sold it for me, you'll no doubt find it helpful as well.

I've seen various Manfrotto pods in stores and while some are lighter but just as sturdy (Carbonfibre) they cost a lot lot more so you really do get excellent features, quality and accessories for the money being asked. I reckon they easily match up to the "known" big brands. There isn't anything at all on the 324 that i could spot that gave any sign that it was a tripod shy of £150, and that's without a head...

Well I have been using the ballhead a couple of days now and I have to say I am supremely impressed. A curious problem came about with the 3 way head that came bundled with the tripod though as the base plate lock stopped working but I wasn’t bothered as I had the ballhead now – Will call them to see what they say about it.

Anyway, the ball head is amazing, won’t budge a mm when locked and the movement is silky smooth. Now I know why people swear by ball heads!

Looks cool too:

Update*
They said they've never had that before and they'll send me a new 3 way head if I send in the dodgy one :)

As in its smoothness and ability to pan smooth from start to stop and fast to slow if needed?

I've done a quick video as I think words can describe it but you are better off seeing it on video :) Also, it appears my video is the only one on Youtube of a Red Snapper Tripod, in a sad way it's quite a weird feeling and deserved of a "FIRST!" :p

:D

Yeah I found the only way to easily pack the 3 way head was to unscrew one of the arms, easy enough tbh but once you go ballhead, you don't go back!

I'm just keeping the base plate for a 2nd body :)

Can't type too much as I'm on the road but the ball head is way better than the 3 way head it makes your head spin!

I think many people dodge this brand based on price alone without realising the quality is easily on oar with the big brands costing 2x as much and these have more features.

The movement and flexibility the ball head gives is so good it's not even worth considering anything else especially when the top ball head is £50!
