Red Steel

yeah it's ok. graphics at some point is very N64 like :(

other points it's 'ok' obviously nothing compared to Gears of War ;)

but got it for like £25 so thought i'd might aswell, not worth £40 though i think.

I like it. The sword fighting is pretty good but you do need a fair of of room and spare swing space to appreciate it.

I said it a few times though, if you think this is a game where you have fast action, running around dodging things, jumping, shooting and the like then you WILL be disappointed. To get the most from this you need to take your time and take things easy.

I'd say a definately not to in your face. Thing is you've got to remember this is totally new stuff (unless you're a pro at arcade light gun games) so it's still difficult to remember than the joystick on the nunchuk is a strafe but the wiimote actually controls where you look. I guess it's like playing a piano, learning to use your left hand for a rhythm and your right for the main tune, it takes some practice as both hands needs to work seperatly in order to get there.

At first you'll probably keep you right hand still and use the nunchuk to strafe your target into view as you just can't grasp the idea of moving the wiimote, but after a while you'll start to move the nunchuk joystick whilst moving and then target with the wiimote which is really good.

It's a BIG learning curve, or I think it is, probably harder than going from Keyboard/mouse to controller as everything you've been use to before has been set and position on a 2d plane (your monitor). This is 3d, very very different but boy is it fun.

Well i hated it.

Main menus annoyed me, dragging it onto a board/screen thing? Took me ages to figure that out.

The game, i played for about half hour, it was alright, but..just something i really didn't like. It handles well, just didnt like it really.

Couldnt see the people to shoot quick enough and kept over shooting them while trying to strafe and whathave you. But if you take it slow it works better :P

Saying this i turned it off shortly into the game and played tennis some more, would have like to try sword fighting but hey, it is my mates console so :P

Being ramob and running about like a lune and trying to aim didn't work :(

Not my kinda game at all.

Hi,
Ive been playing this a bit, and to start with aiming was terrible, just like all new control methods it takes some getting used to (especially the aiming this game uses) but if you keep going it does get much better, I am now having great fun with it!

Just playing Wii sports with my wife and brother at the mo (2 player taking it in turns) and it's great fun!

Still got Zelda to open, and Wii Play to try some more, but really want my component cable as even though it looks ok on my 42" plasma its composite and I know how much better component was on my gamecube so holding out for that at the moment.

Lots of games on the 360 to play anyway:D (and motorstorm on the ps3 due before Christmas) means I have enough to keep me occupied anyway!

Thumbs up from me on the Wii (and from my daughter who is 5 and a half, who beat me at bowling earlier!).

Bought it today,, great fun,, got to grips with it straight away, i think motion sensor controls are the way to go , much more involving, graphics arent that bad either

So you trusted me eh? :D

I'm enjoying this game a lot, the controls take a bit of getting used to, but once you've gone through a few levels it should click and it just feels right. I don't think all the negative fuss about the viewing scheme is warranted. It definately brings something different to the fps genre, you feel really involved in the game and I for one look forward to the sword fights, I play it sitting down, but when the sword fights approach I get up and get swinging. :D

Had a swift bash on multiplayer the other day with just two of us, maps can seem a bit big for two people and the graphics take a big dive, I think it would be great if it was possible to link up two wiis so you could play on seperate screens, and an online mode would've been nice, but it's early days and I'm sure it'll come with some other games.

Now then, where's the ultra-violent version? I want to see some Red Steel. :p

I thought that was possible with all Wiis, the adhoc wireless thingy-ma-bob. Or is it wishful thinking on my part, and only certain games are gonna permit this?

Got this today.

Couldn't resist it! always wanted it and i wanted to create my own view about the game...and after reading a review by ~J~.

I really like this, seems very good. Arguably I'm only at the start but first impressions are very good!

Weapon sounds are awesome! Game play seems very good, i reckon it would have been easier though if the cross hair was stuck to the middle of the screen.

I do think more people should get it though as its a lot of fun!

I've played it on a mates Wii and I was entirely unimpressed.

The graphics were pretty poor and I don't mean techincally, it's just that they were really uninspired and they were clearly some placeholder graphics still in there, the weapon icons for example.

Some of the voice samples were verging on racist, I'm pretty sure they left the voices until last and then got a couple of guys from the office to do it. It reminds of those black and white films where they draw oriental eyes on a fat white guy.

Gameplay wise it again, wasn't great. I didn't like the fact that the camera spazzes out if you want to rest your arm or look at your watch for a second. Hopefully they'll rethink the controls for the sequel.

Splitscreen multiplayer seemed like a bit of an afterthought. The map seemed huge for two players and the lack of radar was a bit of a drag. Having a smaller portion of the screen also seemed to make aiming a hell of a lot harder.

At the end of the day though, shooting people is fun and always will be. Doing it with plungers in Rayman seemed a lot better though.
