Redout: New Wipeout/Rollcage like racer

Career mode - 75+ events to race, experience, level up and upgrade your ship

That sold it to me.

But I will wait until it has user reviews and is closer to a tenner. By then people will gave done the beta testing for me :p:D

Wipeout 2097 was an amazing game but reviews of this are saying its more then challenging, and rubberbanding AI is also making it harder.

Also airbraking is a lot harder, so this appears to be a hardcore anti gravity racer, so I'm not sure myself, as I was at best an average Wipeout player.

I just recently bought Formula Fusion (see video below) while it was on sale, its still in early access and has a long way to go. I believe some of the original Wipeout developers are involved.

I didn't know about Redout at the time. I'm currently hovering over the buy button :) It's nice to see a number of decent Wipeout clones.
Grip is also on early access on steam if you like Rollcage.

Saw Formula Fusion a while back, was disappointed because the ships look too rigid in their flight mechanics - look at the video and they seem to have no drift or inertia which put me off and would make for a very different experience to the feel of Wipeout.

I have bought Redout tho, just need to dig out my 360 controller or see if my PS4 ones work on PC.

Wipeout is one of my favourite series it's a shame Sony closed down Liverpool studios, does redout have many weapons?

Hmm fusion possibly has the best graphics, & I think it has wipeout like powerups, but something about the width of the track, or maybe scale of ships to the width seems off?

Redout seems to have the better width of track or maybe better scale, but alas no power ups, or at least not wipeout like, I think they only do something like handling & acceleration type power ups if i read right.

TB said you choose an active and passive ability before each race.

Well played it for about half an hour and coming from Wipeout, it just doesn't feel right so have requested my refund. I can still play any number of proper Wipeouts on my PS3 or Vita so only wanted something the same but new.

@itchy that Star Rider looks a lot more like what Audiosurf is aiming to be rather than the Wipeout style games.

I was all up for buying this. Few negative reviews make sense with the points they make, points perhaps that can be ironed out with a patch or two.

Wipeout is a thing I enjoy, but likes said I too can just play the ps3 version. I come at it for a virtual reality buy only, and just from the words of the dev's responding in their forum, they're still looking at best implication for vr.

It'll get there I'm sure, the game looks solid.

I still hold out hope Sony will just drop a new Wipeout as part of the PS4 VR launch, granted with them getting rid of Studio Liverpool its less likely but you never know.

love the look of this,im not to fussed about power ups and like more the pure racing aspect,i will keep a close eye on this and maybe hit buy at some point
