Redout: New Wipeout/Rollcage like racer

Has the same issue i always hated about wipeout too NARROW tracks ! why I liked fzero yes it had narrow bits but in general had wide tracks.

Bought Redout this morning in the Steam sale and from just flying ~20 laps at Cairo, it feels great tearing around at crazy speeds!

Bit of an eye opener when I did a "pure race" at Cairo after time trailing, discovering I was doing 1min4secs while AI doing ~55secs or something... I had forgotten about the turbo boost button (shift key)!!!

Wish you could re-configure key mapping, I'd much rather have turbo as spacebar (having not yet tried a race with power ups).

But promising first go, great for adrenaline junkies.:)

Was hoping this would be on sale at a good price. Being an Indie game I thought this was a bit over priced. Will wait until it is about a tenner.

Tried it, but couldnt really get the hang of cornering on it, possibly because I played too much wipeout years ago, & even now the muscle memory remains XD

I'm very out of the loops regarding "Family Sharing" on Steam, being a granddad gamer that recently turned 43, but has it always been the case that if I share my games library with my better half (which she has never taken advantage of to date) then she cannot download official Steam demos of any of my games?

I've just had to disable Family Sharing so I could download the Redout demo on my better half's PC.

Partly because she used to play Wipeout and F-Zero and so she might like it, partly because she is getting a Steam Controller for Xmas (I'm getting better, but not entirely happy with the fixed keyboard inputs where my left hand has to do WSAD and then Left-Shift for boost) and partly because I'm curious how it runs on the system I built for her last Xmas (6600k, MSI Z170A Gaming Pro, 2GB R7 265 from old systems with a potential Xfire with 7850).

Pritty disappointed with the demo, had my eye on this game. Didn't run that great and very limited.

Will now grab when under a fiver, was thinking a tenner before.

Yeah. If the aim of the demo was to get me to buy it, they failed big time. Race go round and round, boost, avoid corners and that's it. Pretty dry stuff, and people say it is like F-Zero...

F-Zero has a lot of character, this game is dull. F-Zero racing is fun, charging up your power and pushing it to the limit using HP for boosts. This game is just go round and round. At least in the demo.

Also nothing like Wipout where the fighting was fun. Again this one is going round and round. Can you go round faster? lol.

Max I would pay is a fiver. Very disappointed considering the good reviews.

I tried the demo this evening and uninstalled after a few laps too. It wasn't bad, just wasn't F-Zero or WipeOut but something meh inbetween.

The motion blur was appalling, I understand it adds something to a high speed racing game like this but it was overdone and blurred the entire image, so much so I thought I was playing well below native rez.

Of the 2 I prefer Grip personally, formula fusion feels more like wipeout to me too, grip feels more polished atm tho, even tho both that & FF are still in EA.

I find cornering quite tricky on redout for some reason, cant quite get my head round it.

Have they implemented 21:9 in GRIP yet ? I know it's not supported out the box. WIll probably buy it if it does.

After installing the Redout EE demo I've just bought the full game £13 Humble store.

Wow ! simply WOW! the update makes everything about the game insanely good.

It runs 3440*1440 everything on EPIC @ 60 fps with a resolution of 200% and ingame it is stunning and silky smooth. Going to grab the DLC also, Neptune pack and that's my afternoon sorted :D

Read this post and got it on Humble myself :) I love that they have the "classic" control scheme in options, its like Wipeout - shoulder buttons to airbrake, dpad to turn and pitch up/down. Top game! Challenging though, I'm stuck on Calima last man standing challenge, but probably because my brain is fried with all the speed- need to take a break :)
