To get a 'new' G0 Intel 'Duo' running on a 1000 FSB could I put a '1333' in my Asus P5W64-WS Pro (975X) and reduce the FSB to 1000 in the bios ????. (gaining 3gHz as a result ?)

I guess it may not even boot ?, I've heard of this board OC'd to 1333 but my current ram is Corsair 8000ul (1000MHz)

A G0 Quad does not seem to be a problem - "Intel Core 2 Quad Pro Q6700 "LGA775 Kentsfield" 2.66GHz (1066FSB) - Retail" (Pre-Order).

Regards

At 1333, the 'default' memory clock would be 667, with Dual Channel memory controllers and Intel processors 1:1 is always considered true when memory is running at half the frequency of the FSB. So your ram should pose no problems at all, and most 975x's are very happy to run at 1333.

If you try to run a 1333FSB CPU at 1066, then you'll be underclocking it... It will work, but you'll lose the advantages.

Personally, I'd just whack the FSB up to 333Mhz (1333 FSB), and set the memory to 667. That will get your CPU running at 'stock' speed.

Infact your 975x is probably good for 350mhz (1400fsb) maybe even a little higher.
