Hi all,

Recently i changed out my old crossfire setup which produced a lot of noise from the gfx card fans, for a new galax gtx 970 which is near silent.

As a result im now on a quest to reduce the noise of my pc as much as possible, and the only fans which are now audible are the ones which come with my case (Corsair 650D).

Can somebody advise of some reasonably priced fans to replace all of the default ones in my case? That is, if replacing the fans will make a notable difference.

many thanks in advance

The best advice I can give you is to check out silentpcreview's fan roundups - http://www.silentpcreview.com/Fan_Roundup_7

I have a three B12-2's in my rig and I'm highly impressed with them... they are pricey though.

SPCR is the only website I know of that uses an anechoic chamber and high end equipment such to measure the noise level of the various components they test. The chamber they have is rated at <11dB(A) which is about as loud as an incandescent light bulb.

I own the 650D myself, the first thing you need to do is to get rid of the stock fans, they'll make your PC sound like a jet engine.

You can only put a 200mm fan in the front, for silence go for a Coolermaster Megaflow 200mm, they come with different coloured LED's. You can also put in a Bitfenix Spectre Pro 200mm, i tried that one but it was a little bit louder than the Coolermaster.

Before i changed to a Corsair H105 i had an all air setup, i had a 200mm Coolermaster megaflow on the top as well, in the rear use something like a Corsair AF 120mm.

A lot of people like myself that have the 650D removed the honeycomb mesh from the front of the case, that causes noise as air is pulled through it. It's easy to do with some cutters then use some edging trim to give a neat finish.
