As most of you are aware usually shipping (for example) to Ireland is usually much more expensive than a delivery to the UK Mainland. Well we have listened to our customers and have put an end to this so you will be paying the same price as the UK Mainland customers!

This is fantastic news and I, as a Jersey resident, hope the trial is a success.

Raises the bar significantly against competitors for someone like me and, assuming this sticks, would very unlikely ever be surpassed!
 
Cool. One of the many reasons I won't move back to Scotland is the silly postage rates by couriers to there, I mean it's not Egypt. Hope the trial goes well for those located in these places.

Lol seriously? Such a thought wouldnt even enter my head if I was considering moving...

I didn't think we in NI got free shipping? It's never came up for me when I've purchased things...
 
I live in an "IV" postcode and I'd just like to say thanks for the trial and I hope you make it permanent.
The "IV" postcode covers a huge area and for me there are many areas on an "AB" postcode that are further "off the beaten track" than I am and yet they got standard charge postage, and on other websites "free" postage.

i've jhad some stuff come to me on free shipping, though ususally smaller items.

gotta say this is a cracking move by OcUK. it will without doubt put you in a much stronger position against competitors.

in fairness i've always found OcUK's postal charges to be very reasonable comapred to some of the other e-tailers.

:Dbut a big thanks to OcUK from all us folks living in the outer rims of humanity :D

Spread the word if you can, the more that use it, more the trial is likely to go permanent.
 
it doesnt affect me, but it is definitely a fantastic move by you guys OcUK... especially knowing how tight the Scottish are :p:D

quick question. does this make 2 day shipping with DPD free for people who qualify for free shipping?
if so, i think you will have cured everyones shipping problems, not just the people in hard to reach places

just tried a range of things to buy, and it looks like if your order is small enough you get royal mail free shipping, if its big enough you get DPD free shipping, but if its just a couple of big items (eg, a graphics card upgrade with some new RAM too) then you get DX secure :(

I don't think the free shipping applies to everyone just yet. - Think it may do for N Ireland, best thing to do is try it. If it works, then great, if not then I am sorry.

If this takes off and we have a lot of custom, we may look in the future for offering free shipping to 2 day services, but at the moment we we have managed to bring the cost right down so everyone in the UK and Ireland pays the same shipping rate. :)

When I lived in the Highlands I had to re-mortgage my Haggis farm many a time to get delivery :p

That and 24 hour shops a 5-10 minute drive away, instead of an hour or more, tell ya this England place has it easy :D
 
Finally! While I have no planned upgrades at the minute, if I do I'll probably buy it from here now. The high postage was a big stumbling block in the past and so unless I was ordering 3 heavy items I couldn't justify spending near enough a tenner on postage for a single item.
