What are people's thoughts on products such as PCI slot exhausts (e.g. Akasa System Exhaust Blower (SY-000-GE)http://www.overclockers.co.uk/acatalog/Akasa_System_Coolers.html)

And what sort of improvements in ambient/in-case temp improvements can I expect if I replace the stock coolers on my 2 x X1900XT Crossfire setup with something like Zalman VF900-CU Quiet Copper VGA Cooler (SY-008-ZA) and ram sinks ?

Case cooling is down to your case fan arrangement.

the exhaust blowers are useless btw, dont bother.

what case do you have? and more importantly what fans are in it, which way are they blowing and how much are they blowing

I have a Jeantech case, can't recall what model name, (but it is all black with a drive door and a single red LED temp readout on the front.....pretty sure it was some sort of server-suitable design...) 'tis a large case
Anyhow, I have 2 x 80mm fans at the front - which pull air in over the 2 x HDD and onto the 2 x X1900XT - and nothing currently exhausting (nicked the 2x80mm fans from exhaust duties to inflow duties).....bought a couple of Akasa Amber 120mm (without checking and realising I needed 80mm  ) so 2x exhaust fans needed ?

i personally recommend the arctic silencers , do a great job in removing hot air, since gpus are the biggest heatsource in a pc at the moment

Do these really affect the in-case temps ? Before taking my little X1900's apart, keen to get an idea of actual effectiveness.....

So what about utilising one of my 120mm Akasa Ambers (on something like a Vantec bracket ?) to shove all the more air past everything and out of the case ? As well as putting in 2 x exhaust fan......I guess I want to get as close temps as possible to when the side panel is not on :)

putting the side panel on is normally better than off really.

with it on the air is directed from the intake over the components and out the back (once you have the exhaust in place).

without it on, the air from the intake could just go straight back into your room and not over the components.

That's what I thought too ! This is what has led me to deciding that there are issues with my in-case airflow :(

Guess I need to see what sort of improvement the exhaust fans will give .... (I only changed them to intake when I had the system apart for my motherboard surgery recently, as installing them was going to be fiddly) ....as they can easily be fitted now
