.REF file, how do you use it?

I've been having problems with my PC not running USB 2.0 so I went to *** ASUS site and downloaded the chipset driver to try and fix this. The files name is defs.ref and I don't know what to do with it.

Could anyone help me, It'd be much appreciated. Sorry if I put this thread in the wrong section, I couldn't find a more appropriate one.

erm, i think .ref files are used to update programs like Ad-aware PE, now called Ad-aware 2007 I think.

Do you run something like Ad-aware, Spybot or anything else like that?

Certainly used by Ad-Aware amongst others, see here http://filext.com/file-extension/REF .

I run Ad-Aware and spybot but I downloaded this straight from the ASUS website. Is this a site error or did I do something wrong downloading it? As I say, it's supposed to be a chipset as the USB ports won't run 2.0.

What's the model of the motherboard, and is it Vista/XP/2000 you are running?
