Thought this community was built on the spirit of helping/sharing with each other - the sudden influx of referral links is actually very saddening I think (i.e. posters on here trying to get something out of us all).

Are they now allowed?

It is, there are lots of people who are thanking each other... However there is only one person who is out for gains for himself

It's not all bad. I used someones referral link for GMG(though i did make sure it was somone who i recognised and had a good impression of) and i then put my link up. I don't think there is anything wrong with that really. I would imagine that everyone is only using links from posters they know a little about anyway

I think it shouldn't be allowed on the Forums.

If you've got a friend that wishes to use your link, do so in private.

If you want to help the community, inform on the Forum of this option and what benefits it carries but don't try and persuade people into profiting you.

The advice here is free and anyone feeling that anyone else "owes them something" is a moron and should just leave.

I've posted my referal link in the GMG thread, only twice.

I have also posted thanking the guys for using my link. I also feel I have contributed a lot in the way of help and advice in that thread as well as the official dead island one. I do feel the GMG link is different in a way because both parties get a reward for it being used.

That said, and individual can choose not to click a referral link if they feel that way inclined. Its not like they have some sort of magical force, compelling a person to used it? If you have a problem with them, just ignore it.

That can be applied to any referral link out there and is largely irrelevant.

Here is my referral link for GMG: http://www.greenmangaming.com/?gmgr=Trolled

Referral links are against the rules apparently. You are risking an infraction if you post them. A warning and a mod edit would have been sufficient seeing as I wasn't even aware of the rule.

As others have said though, all parties benefit, not just the person referring.

Tbh I only posted as it was winding up Neil :p - sorry Neil :)

Just out of interest, how much had you earned on GMG?

I agree referral links shouldn't be posted but i think the GMG ones are a special case as both parties benefit, theres no harm in that really. Hopefully the mods will just let them go so long as they stay in that thread.

Agreed and only ONE referral post allowed
