How do people get photos of reflections in water and how do you make your own? Is it a certain time of day that reflections are more likely to occur?

Ah I thought that may be the case, what sort of time of day is usually a good time, or is it quite random?

(sorry about the crap sentences, for some reason my brain isn't engaging today :/)

I would imagine, early morning or late evening/sunset are best for still water assuming of course the wind is fairly light.

You can always make the water appear calmer with a long exposure using ND filters.

A combination of choosing the right time of day (early morning can be calmer than later on in the day), watching the weather forecasts, using slow exposures and a CP filter to bring out the reflection, and also being out there. You don't get lucky with them all the time, but you have got to make the effort in the first place :)

As for cheating with photoshop

I went out this evening and had a go at all the suggestions you lot posted, ill post some of the results later. Thanks all. :)
