I'm sure the title didnt really give a clear description, but it was the only thing i could come up with that represents about what i'm about to explain.
Scenario, been running my venice several months, and experiencing a little lag in games.
Purchased new case, and monitor. Akasa Eclipse, and a Hyundai X90W 19" TFT Widescreen.
Got it all wired up and looking hot, didnt play a game for a few days. Fired up a game, game seems to lag, like parts of the screen cant catch up. FPS is 35 minimum. Tried various games, Trackmania, Counter Strike Source, HL2, Titan Quest, Age of Mythology, Rome Total War, Darkstar One. All the same laggyness.
So think maybe its time for a reinstall and a clean slate of drivers. So install XP Pro with SP2, flash to latest bios on mobo, install latest cats, latest mobo drivers, and so on..... Install Battlefield 2. Defragging between each.
Boot game up using comand line to display in widescreen. Game still looks laggy and fps is still fine. I try various things like locking the fresh, tried with an without monitor drives. NOTE: At native res the only refresh is 59htz.
So figured it must be the monitor. Plug in the old 21"CRT trinitron, still same laggyness.
So by this point very confused. Used driver cleaner and tried 6.8, 6.7, 6.6, 6.4, 6.3 & 6.1 cats, and still the same thing.
Sometimes it clears up and its better but still not right.
I've tried running at stock, to the same effect.
I spent a little time reading today about ATI cards in nforce4 boards, and even tried a hotfix, to no avail. I even suspected the HDD at one point when it locked up and started ticking, but thats gone away now and all drives are passing Western Digital diagnostics tool and scandisk.
Checked psu rails and they look rock.
I'm thinking buy a cheap PCI-E nvidia card to drop in, just to see if the problem is in that area, unfortunately the 3 other pc's are still agp.
Any suggestions peeps?
