Refresh rate

Hi,

A while ago I randomly looked at my refresh rate on my graphics card because I felt it was a bit too flickery. When went to the drop down menu it now goes from 60-200hz, where as before it used to go to a maximum of around 85-90.

The main annoying thing is that whenever i change to any of the refresh rates it doesnt seem to make any difference. Not really sure whats gone wrong.

I have tried uninstalling and re installing my graphics card software, though it doesnt seem to change anything.

Any ideas on how i could get this to go back to normal?

BTW I am using my CRT monitor

Thanks

you need to find the profile drivers for your monitor , 200htz you see is what the card is capable of but your monitor will have a different max refresh rate.

installing the drivers will allow windows to properly recognize the capabilities of your monitor.

Yup. Does Windows just show your monitor as "plug & play monitor" or "default monitor", etc? It should show the make and model. Trot off to the monitors website and grab the .inf file - that should sort it out.

CRT user here too & without drivers (INF file), max refresh rate was 75Hz & some games (think it was PES4) had display issues  Drivers sorted that out & max refresh rate is a comfortable 85Hz :)

Like mentioned GFX, even the cheapest ones, can output up to 2048x1536 @ 85Hz. But its totally down to the monitor, if it can display a certain resolution at xxHz.

Hi guys

I looked at the iiyama website and they dont seem to have my model listed anymore...My model is:

Vision Master Pro 413 HM703UT A

Though, I went to device manageer and selected the "I will choose the driver to install" and found the Plug and play option listed. So I selected that and it made a noise like a USB device being activated. However, when I go to the refresh rate selection everything seems to be the same and nothing seems to have changed...

Any idea on what to do now guys?

Thanks for the help so far.

Here it's here I think. Just double check it for me.

If for some strange reason you can't get them then I'll email them to you as I have downloaded them already just in case ;).

Thanks for the reply, I managed to install the drivers in the end. Now the refresh rate is listed up to 100hz instead of 200. Though, whenever I change one of the settings it doesnt seem to make an apparent change to the screen.

Not really sure why this isnt working. It has only really stopped working since I brought back my computer from home to university...I never had to install monitor drivers to get my refresh rate working either.

The drivers that I used were:

HM703U.ICM
HM703UTA_UA

The model that is on my monitor is "HM703UT A". So they aren't perfect matches. I wonder if it could actually be a hardware problem.

Actually, my wife had an old Sony CRT that did this exact thing. It would say the refresh rate was 85Hz, 100Hz, etc but it was blatantly running at 60Hz. After much messing around I discovered it didn't like the newer ATi Cat drivers - found some older ones (before you needed Net Framework) and then it was fine.

Maybe give that a bash?
