Hi,

I stupidly ordered an engraved iPad and have changed my mind but can’t cancel the order

Does anyone have any experience of refusing delivery of the iPad and whether I’d get a refund ?

I know this would be fine for a non customised device but the fact it’s engraved makes me worry. Some searching of apples policy also suggests it’s ok but I’m after some comfort from you guys if possible?!

Usually with a customised product you won't get a refund, or full-refund depending on the customisation.

EDIT: From Googling seems hit and miss on Apple except you can't exchange in store, some have got refunds others have been denied.

Thanks. I feared this despite not being able to find conclusive evidence of this in black and white

From Googling Apple seems to have removed the policy on personalised items, aside from you can't exchange in store, and it seems people have had mixed experiences on refunds.

I really can’t decide whether to risk it. I’ve never refused a delivery before and feel like if I do, I may never see the money or the iPad again

The engraving is the stupidest thing I’ve done and feel an idiot

What did you engrave it with?

I've only done it once, on my first iPad but it developed a fault and they swapped it for a new one in store. Which sucked because I applied a screen protector on that thing absolutely perfectly!

You walk into a shop, get a tattoo ....

Two weeks later, you change your mind

Come on what do you think ?

My daughters name (who it’s a gift for) .

My full dilemma here is I’m being a tightwad as I’ve ordered the brand new iPad, whereas now I’ve seen the 10th gen for £100 less & I doubt she will notice the double storage or a16 chip vs a14

I don't think personalised products are exempt from the 14 day return period so just take delivery of it, then return it for a refund.

Double the storage - double the life span / usefulness of the device long term. Plus, £100 difference for better spec, longer support going forward etc etc ... in the long run it could work out cheaper as you'll not need to replace it till later down the line.

Considering that you had come to the decision to order it in the first place ( i.e. had justified the cost / expenditure ) , to go down this route does seem a bit tightwad-ish as you say yourself.
