I'm bored at work. Thought i would start a discussion. (this could start something here.....;))

Which games do you regret buying/playing?
Or do you regret something specific with regards to certain games?

Personally, i regret buying Borderlands GOTY for £30 from Steam. Not the game i thought it was at all.

Specifically, i regret reading spoilers for Mass Effect 2 before playing, as i feel it did kind of spoil some of the reveals(thats why they are called spoilers;))

i would probably add not playing Portal for years. I played it for the fist time a few months ago, and used to tell people that it is not my sort of game!
Now i consider it to be one of my favourite games ever. I loved every minute of it

there is a distinction between regret and disappointment. i mean, i was very disappointed with DA2, but i do not regret buying it, as i was looking forward to it, after playing the first one. It wasn't bad, but nowhere near good enough. But I had to play it, after playing DAO.

I regret buying games that i do not get anything form, such as Broderlands, as i mentioned, paying full price, after hearing great things. Could not get in to it at all.

Rainbow Six Vegas 2, COD 2, COD MW1, COD MW2, GRAW pack (Steam Sale), Assassin's Creed. Maybe one or two others, can't remember now.

Oh, yeah, someone reminded me...Farcry 2.

Come on GRAW pack in the steam sale was a good deal, i think i got it too. Surely you got something out of it?

I very rarely regret buying games at launch, because i'm obviously looking forward to playing them, so find it easier to get some enjoyment out of them. The only one i can think of that i regretted buying at launch was Final Fantasy 10 on PS2, after really looking forward to it, and paying full-price.

With Borederlands, i bought the GOTY edition after reading positive reviews and having been recommended it. £30!!

Another regret was buying a 360, and the first 2 games that i had for it were Clive Barkers Jericho, and The Darkness.
What a waste. A couple of weeks later, i got Halo 3 and Gears of War though:D

massively disagree with the New Vegas haters. I loved it. Added 20-30 mods and played through it for a very long time. Defintely got my moneys worth out of it.

As for MW2, i didn't like it at all, but played with a few mates in a clan, and probably played online for arund 2-3 months, so i can't say i regret it, as i certainly got something out of it.

I also buy a football Manager every year, play it for around a month, and never touch it again.

Mass Effect 2 - dumbed down, linear story, boooooring minigame, lacking in epicness compared to the first - still I have hopes for ME3

Couldn't disagree more. Especially about lacking in epicness. and i would not call it a linear story tbh.
Do you really regret buying it? really?

Yes Assassins creed was a bit of a chore to play. They have turned it around now though. I consider AC brotherhood to be the best game i have played this year so far by a mile, and i loved AC2.

My main priblem with ME2, was that it didn't really feel like a 2nd part of a trilogy. It either felt like a first part, in the team building bits. Or the final part, in the suicide mission bit and the prepaaration for the mission. Made it feel a bit uneven for me. I still loved it though

Dragon Age 2
God what a mess. I didn't buy DA2 but the demo and reviews alone let me know I'm not missing out.

You WOULD have regretted buying it, but you didn't, so you dodged a bullrt there. I didn't like it, it was very disappointing, but i do not regret buying it, as i did complete it, and i loved the first one
