I played WoW for quite a while but quit about a year and a half ago. I came back to play the WotLK trial around christmas 8 months ago, and enjoyed it quite a lot. I recently tried to get back into WAR because they had a 10 day free thing going on, but it just pales in comparison to WoW.

I was wondering what the best server would be to restart on, I have a few level 70 characters but I wanted to start a fresh on one of the better PvP servers out there. Hopefully the leveling buffs and lack of players in 1-60 means I will level up quickly and not get ganked. I never really experience end game content (I only got a few bosses into Vashj's dungeon, and Ragnaros in vanilla). There is also the chance for somebody to do a scroll of resurrection on me so reply if you want that.

Might be worth having a look at something like WoW Jutsu and checking out the servers for their alliance:horde ratios to make sure you don't roll on a one that is a bit imbalanced.

I don't know in regards to Servers.

My server (Defias Brotherhood) is balanced and despite being RP PVP is a great server with a good sense of community. There are normally a fair amount of people leveling, so you might be able to find a friend.

I'd also advise checking out the "recommend" realms :) they can be good fun.

Check the link Flibby posted as well ;)

If you want to hit 80 I'd do it on a PVE server now. With the new 3.2 patch you can gain XP in Battlegrounds. Plus you can transfer PVE to PVP and vice versa. I roll on Draenor which is slighty more horde favoured than Alliance but overall a good server.

Knee-jerk much?

It is about cashing in on people migrating. PVE should never be allowed to migrate to PVP. May as well start giving people purple gear just for moving, don't tell Blizzard otherwise they might start doing it.

I have levelled on both pvp and pve servers, I can't say pvp was that much of a hinderance at all??

Not if you know where to quest and when to quest and you know the locations pretty well. New to the game or mmo's then PVP is a lot harder than PVE.

The whole of WoW is a cash in, it's a business folks not a charity. Any service which they provide will cost, if tranfers were free they'd probably increase the monthly charge to keep the profit margin healthy.

They don't need to increase the sodding charge. In four years i've spent something utterly chronic like £300 on World of Warcraft.

Despite needing GMs etc. there is no way you can say Blizzard have done anything but make an absolutely mind-boggling profit on this game, the likes of which have never been seen before.

Things like PCT and name/gender changes are just greed. Nothing else.

Truth. This man speaks it.

In all fairness. If I came up with a design that millions of people worldwide got hooked I would milk that bloody cow for every penny I can get out of it.

After all its business. I'm not saying its right. But I certainly would not have done anything differently

So? Milk it without spoiling the game. Add a couple of quid on each month. Everyone will pay it. Release addon packs.

Make a sequel.

Don't just screw the whole game up the rear for the sake of a few quid.

Indeed.

I'd be happy paying, £10 a month, or even £11, if they were to give you, character transfers, name changes, ect ect included in that.

But if you don't use those services you're paying an extra £3 for nothing...

I'd rather they keep the system where you pay extra if you want those things.

Levelling on PVP isn't difficult and it doesnt make you a better PVPer in the slightest. Levelling on PVP is a pain in the arse and the only thing you learn to do better is to avoid other people, run away, or waste time being tagged by 4 or 5 people that are grouped or a level 80 on his way to... well... gank lowbies out of frustrated inability to PVP properly.

Since there are no real benefits in comitting to PVP below max level (the best items avail at max, new items in patches and expansions released at max etc) then it seems a pointed waste of time to mess around killing people during the levelling process.

I can't imagine that being able to transfer between PVE and PVP is that big a deal... although in fairness, it does have an air of pandering to those who feel that they should get whatever they want after they've whinged enough... something that does seem rife in WoW (i quit when WOTLK was released, after playing since Korean beta. Presumably nothing has changed since that time). A silly change perhaps, but not really that much of a cop-out.

The above post based firmly on my opinion. Need to state that before i start a ruckus!

I have to agree though, that charging for name changes, character appearences and the like is incredibly silly. The charge for realm transfer i can kind of justify, but it's way too high. It's taking advantage of people spending months and months on a character, and their desperation to pay in order to save them from starting all over again for teh sake of wanting to play on a different realm or have a different tag in their name.
