reinstall - best scenario

ok after suffering a raid crash... first one tut tut.

I need a different strategy in case it happens again.

Here are my drives - how would YOU set them up.

2 x 36gb raptors

2 x 150gb raptors

1 x 150 gb sata

1 x 150 gb eide

stripe em ? - mirror em ? decisions decisions.

Ive yet to use the 150 gb raptors for other than backup data - and only ever used the 36gb raptors in raid.

was thinking maybe unraid them and create a mirror ?
or better to raid and just make an acronis image now and again?

and lessons kids ! backup your data NOW not tomorrow lol

Sell the 36GB Raptors and IDE drive, use the 150GB raptors for OS/apps/games in RAID 0 and buy 2x 500GB for storage/backup in RAID 1 and have a image of your OS drive backed up every so often.

Agreed with fobose.

Sell the 36GB raptors and the SATA and IDE drive. Stripe the new Raptors and get yourself a nice big storage drive or two.
