ROG b450II board using latest Bios
32gb corsair ram
Seagate cuda m.2
old r7970 gfx but does all i need
Everything as stock no changes made to board or cpu

latest windows 11 with all updates.

Anyhow i installed the amd overclocking app and then system wouldnt boot.

I done a full wipe and reinstall etc, all latest drivers and windows updates.

Everything is just sluggish, Ive even adjusted the windows settings for best performance and it hasnt helped.

Where as before i would click on the folder icon it would load instantly, it now takes several seconds.

Internet browsing using any browser is sluggish. From clicking on a link it will just sit there for a few seconds thinking about it and take up to 10 seconds to display the new page.....

USing task manager cpu usage is low as is ram etc.

Im on slow 70mb internet but its always been enough.

I can actually browse websites using my rdp connecting to the netherlands lol..

Ive reinstalled again and still the same.

Anyone help me get my system back to being fast??

EDIT just tried xbox cloud gaming through internet explorer and its unplayable.......hmmmmm

Doesn't sound right. That being said, on a new install, it will take a number of days for it do sort itself out in the background. For example, the indexing will be starting from scratch, which takes its sweet time and may be hampering the 'feel' of the system.

I've also noticed that the UI is deliberately made to react slow. For example, the default wait between a click and a UI response is in the region of 400ms (well, thats the value in registry), and dropping it down to 100 along with other tweaks can make Win11 feel markedly snappier.

Never had a fresh install that takes a few seconds to open a folder, and I do fresh installs weekly. Was it an official ISO direct from MS?

I'd do a fresh install again, is it all folders it's affecting? I.E folders from your ssd and your spin disk? Or just one in particular? Is the motherboard drivers installed correctly? Could be a potential speed issue for the drives, rather than CPU/RAM issue.

Don't have any spin disks....just m.2 I have reinstalled three times now ...

Check event viewers application and system logs for warnings and errors, if it's happening on every boot you may want to clear them first and then reboot.

Other than that I'm guessing nothing in task manager is standing out as using excessive CPU/Disk percentages so you'd probably need to dig a little deeper. Having reinstalled multiple times kind of rules out a software problem although it would be handy to know if it felt sluggish before you installed drivers and updated Windows, if it's feeling sluggish the very first time the desktop loads after a fresh install then that defiantly rules out a software/driver issue so then you could concentrate on identifying what bit of hardware is causing the issue.

Usually using Ryzen Master shouldn't change anything in the BIOS but might be worth clearing out CMOS and resetting everything to default before doing the new install, in case it changed something.

This is a starter for the section about getting rid of animations …

some I don’t agree with though. Leave indexing on personally and power is balanced mode.

And the right click delay

Free software winaero tweaker
Can adjust the setting mentioned
And a lot of very useful other stuff too
One of my must have free softwares

Other than that
A new installation shouldn't be as sluggish
As you're getting
I would try a different windows iso

Does not sound right. Task manager good? Clear out CMOS and reset everything to default before doing the new install. It's a pain but it's probably the quickest way to resolve the issue
