1. Windows 8 on bootable USB - check
2. Motherboard BIOS update - check (to be done before installing Win8)
3. Chipset drivers - check
4. Graphics drivers -check
5. Soundcard drivers - check
6. Peripheral drivers - check

Have I forgotten anything? OS is just going on my SSD, no partitions as it is just a boot drive.

ta :)

After installing Windows 8, updates and drivers take an image of the SSD so that you won't need to reinstall windows and your drivers again.

Apart from that all looks good :).

You should be able to check after you've reinstalled the OS, unless it can't provide a NIC driver (the only driver I bother sourcing before an OS install, just in case). Look for missing drivers in Device Manager.

Cup of tea or cold beverage to sip whilst waiting? :D Antivirus perhaps?

Number 1 on the list should be a brew!

Got beer thanks. :D Will reinstall Comodo Free Firewall and Avast! Free afters.

This will be after the inevitable loads of Windows updates.

I may well move an image to another drive as I have plenty of space on a mechanical one. Did not think of that so cheers.

How does one go about doing this? I must admit it has been some time since I have had to do this and I did stupidly take the Win8 upgrade path already which is currupted, hence thw wish to clean install.

Are you able to download a Win8 NIC driver from the mobo manufacturer website? If not, the Win7 driver may suffice.
