Reinstalling Windows - Steam Question

I am going to get a bigger SSD, partition it but i also want to save the games into a different folder onto a different drive.

I created a load of symlinks to my Dropbox for each game save.

It's a bit of manual work, but with Dropbox's file versioning for 30 days i think. It means any problems with the local file, corruption etc, or even if you feel the need to rewind, you can go back to a previous days save.

Sussed how to backup Steam games now via Steam program. Saved onto external Hard drive.

Anyone able to save any from Uplay?

With you separate folder, what files do you save in that? For example, 'Just Cause 3'. How would you go about saving that? I want to start to save any of the games i get on steam to a different drive as backups. Ta

Everything gets saved to that separate drive with exception of the files that get created when the game loads for the first time. They get saved into My Documents by default and they're just savegames and setting files.

When I did a fresh install of Steam originally, I installed it straight to my E drive. That way all games that I download end up in E:\Steam\

Hope that explains it better. :)

Thank you.

Also, is it better to have the games on an SSD? I ask i have just built my nephew a PC with a 250GB Samsung SSD but was wondering if i a mechanical drive is ok to store and run the games from?

Yep, the SSD will help a lot with loading times. A mechanical drive is fine to use though, it's what I use but only because 2tb SSD's are quite expensive at the mo!
