I've had to reinstall Windows, long story, don't go there.

I had created my user 's home folder in drive E:\Users (I have a link with how to change the default home directories) and there is masses of user data there....

Now I need to recreate the user, but I can't afford to lose all that data.

If I do the changes so future new users get created in E:\Users will creating one of the same name as the existing one wipe the files? Or pick them up?

Guess I could simply use a new user name and copy the files across....

I wouldn't do that, there are TONS of folders in there that won't be used by the new install.

Just pick out what you need.

Or just restore them from your backu......
