reinstalling windows without a dvd

been asked to start a friends pc from scratch again as it is rather messy.

i have a dvd which i was going to resintalled windows with and use her key, however the system only has a cd drive so i can't do it.

is there anyway to get windows to like reinstall itself back to its orignal state and delete everything on the hard drive along with it?

if not what are my options?

Well if its windows XP a cd drive will be fine

? i put the dvd in, it autoplays but freezes after that, and if i tell system to boot from cd it doesn't do anything pass press anykey to boot from cd

If its a windows image andf not a recovery disk, then DVD drive = £20

or, temporarily rape a drive from another pc, install it and then boot from DVD drive?

Probably the best option. When building PC's I normally do this for DVD/floppy drives that I need.

which windows is it?

vista is the only home windows on dvd
