Rejoice! AMD B650E and B650 Motherboards are here!

I think AMD abandoned budget CPU pricing when Zen3 arrived knowing it will be faster than Intel has to offer at the time as well as the next gen.

There is lengthy debate about the pricing of Zen3 etc etc but ultimately, heavy discount were available from outlets a few months later. My 5800X was picked up for very reasonable price.

Just this gen the prices have creeped up even more and the entry cost is ridiculously high due to mobo pricing and ddr5. Yeah - DOA

Great CPUs only wish they offered them as AM4 variant…

Entry level on console gets you a Series S for the same price as an entry level motherboard for PC, insanity.

The good old days of PC gaming are vanishing, zero exclusives, overpriced hardware, games are generally ports so run better/similar on optimised consoles. As mouse and keyboard support is rolled out to more games on console as it's seemingly doable, who in their right mind in the current climate pays £1500+ for a PC which could be mimicked by a £4/£500 console? Obviously if people are using their pcs for other uses, the market will still be open to those.

The games themselves aren’t £25 to £30 on launch anymore either (for AA or AAA). They used to be less than console games.

I think we'll see a complete turnaround in consumer sentiment.

I'm on a 4790k rig, had planned to get 5000 series during covid and obviously it all went nuts and wasn't willing to beat people to death to get a 5900x not to mention all the price increase.

Now in 2022 had hoped to get rid of system and get 7000 series and like others I'm not willing to spend 300+ on a motherboard, have always bought premium and never spent anywhere near that.

I'm in a position where I can afford to spend if I wanted to, but simply not going to. I think with all the cost of living and recession talks others will be even more cautious (I'd hope so anyway).

I guess all we can hope is that if consumers hold firm we'll see price drops on this year, they've kind of shot themselves in the foot if intel come out with raptor and motherboards are "cheap" i.e. back to 200 level with good features.

This is the real reason we're seeing these prices in my opinion - https://www.ons.gov.uk/economy/regionalaccounts/grossdisposablehouseholdincome

They think we can and will.

I agree with this.

I think the timing by AMD and Nvidia to launch very expensive and new products has been poor. Intels products are much cheaper but still not going to sell well with the market flooded with discounted products.

I paid £80 for my B450 brand new so a near 300% price hike screams of a cash grab to me even when taking into account inflationary pressures so AMD can go do one here.
However I will say I am rejoicing at one thing, being convinced to stay with my current kit for a long while yet.
