Hi all,

My brother has purchased a 3 month sub to Relakks to use their VPN service, however, he couldn't get it working so asked me.

We've tried on his PC, and on mine and my laptop all running different versions of Windows 7. I've opened the PPTP outgoing port on the netgear DG834Gv3, changed the security to PPTP as well. I've logged in to his account on the Relakks website so we know the login details are correct.

Relakks customer support are dragging their feet coming back to us.

We are constantly getting a 691 error, login / password is wrong or selected authentication protocol is not permitted on the remote access server.

Any suggestions?

And sorry to ask the obvious, but have you got the correct authentication protocol set??
It seems from the site it should be PPTP.

It's an easy one to overlook.

Ditch Relakks and try Anonine or SwissVPN.

Common causes of 691:

User name or password is incorrect.
Another computer is already login with the same account.
Expired account.

It's ok, VPNs are totally new to me.

If I go to the settings for Relakks and then the security tab I have set the type of VPN to PPTP. Authentication is set to 'Allow these settings' and has CHAP and MS-CHAP v2 ticked. The only place you can set PPTP seems to be the Type of VPN option.

Ditch Relakks and try Anonine or SwissVPN.

he's paid for 3 months, he'd like to get it up and running then he'll look at changing depending on the service.

username & password are correct as we can log in to the website with them.
only 1 pc at a time logging in
account is paid until 2011-07-25

Still no response from relakks either, time to fire another email :(

You've also paid for support, ring them rather than email. Phone calls are harder to ignore.

No phone support.

Fired them an email instead of using their contact form, turns out the error was at their end:

We found a missing check sum in your account -please try again now

Sorted now! thanks for the help everyone!
