Looking for a good external backup HDD, and it will be connected occasionally. Recently had a problem with CryptoLocker and it locked some files on my backup HDD, hence looking for a decent way to keep files safe.
Now i have already ordered a 2TB WD my passport ultra exclusive edition, which has a longer 5 year warranty rather than the regular 3 years. I don't know if that's a good choice but i always have the option of cancelling, as long as it's within a short time. I am not sure if the exclusive drives are any different to offer the longer warranty.
The thing is regarding reliability, I'm reading mixed things with different drives, some recommend WD and others say Samsung and then there's Hitachi.
Saying that, i have had a good experience with Samsung drives and an SSD, but not with WD so far
Opinions?
