Reliable Portable EXT HDD

Since im starting back at college im looking for a reliable external portable HDD with a descent length cable 1tb minimum, any recommendations?

Well I have been using WD Passport drives for over 3 years and they have worked every time, as for the cable you can always just by a longer one ....

As above the Western Digital drives are excellent but of course you should always take backups just in case

I've been using WD blue's in a cheapy external case for a few years now without issue and my current fave is a 2tb Samsung USB 3 drive.

wd 'mypassport' is pretty good, short cable but its a microusb with some sort of extension for power, i'm sure you could find a longer one.

got one a while ago now for pretty much the same reason [and a backup drive].
