Remapped?

I've had my Focus St for a few months now and all is well. When I got the car it was advertised as standard, however I'm starting to think it may have been remapped by the previous owner.

With the ESP on the car doesn't seem to boost as high, even in higher gears. If the ESP is turned off it'll boost up to the red (1.2 bar) and stay there until you lift off.

Is there any way to tell other than getting it on a dyno? This is my first quick turbo car so be gentle :D

Potentially stupid question....why would boost ever be linked to ESP!?

Sorry OP i know that doesn't help, genuinely curious as it seems bonkers to me

Don't know about focuses but when most tuners remap diesel AstraZ/vectras they have the maps switchable via the t/c button

Doesn't the ESP have the ability to dial back the power? Maybe there's a fault.

If it were wheel spinning etc i would expect esp/tc and all that gay stuff to reduce the throttle and therefore reduce the boost but the OP said its not flashing lights and not wheelspinning

Sounds like it as standard boost is 0.6/7 bar. It could be that the ESP is limiting torque but most remaps remove this feature.

I had an ST, standard and then Mountuned. If it boosts to 1.2 bar and holds there for a sec or two then its defo remapped. A standard ST wont boost to 1.2 bar and hold.

I also had an ST1 with NO ESP and when standard it wouldnt boost to 1.2 Bar so dont think its related.

Mine's Mountuned and is only torque limited in 1st and 2nd, it won't go above 0.7-0.8 bar in those gears.

3rd and above I press the pedal, there some lag while the turbo spools and then a quite hefty 1.2bar shove.

What happens if you take it to the redline? Does it give 1.2 bar at 6K?
