Remaps/tuning - what's the catch?

All engines get worse on emissions as injectors foul up both on diesel and DI petrol

Petrol engines don't clog up anything like as badly and if you use additives and premium fuel etc. it will keep them pretty clean. I've seen an 11 year old v6 petrol taken apart, which had always been run on v-power and it was like a new engine inside.

The issue is on some DI only engines (VAG engines are/were especially bad for it). But some recent engines (like the Suburu FA-20) also use port injection to help prevent buildup on the injectors.

Make sure you look into a map with good part throttle response too, some tuners merely go for WOT pulls which is useless day to day. I had my bike mapped several times to get the best part throttle response

I'm not talking about the engine, also you are confusing inlet valve deposits with injector deposits.

Tiny deposits that impact the fuel spray and combustion are the issue.

All this talk has me thinking of finally getting it done on mine, after 6 years of ownership!

It's the lower powered version of the Giulietta JDTM2 engine at 140 compared to 170 which is also offered so gains should be fairly easy without pushing other components as i'm fairly sure the rest of the car remains the same.

Had a quote of £200 for a remap (no box), it's cheaper than i was expecting. They seem to specialise in track car prep so i'd assume they know what they're doing. Website could do with a bit of wording changes though.
