Remember the days when consoles had a huge array of great exclusives? You know the big console sellers.

Having spent a fair amount of time watching this year's E3 coverage. It's become clear that proper exclusives are becoming a thing of the past. They're quickly being replaced with imo petty "timed" and "content" exclusive schemes.

With exclusives no longer playing a huge part in the console gaming market. How would you (take brand love or allegiance out of this for a moment) convince someone to get an Xbox or Ps4?

Both consoles share most of today's most popular games. Games that appear to offer identical experiences on both consoles.... How do you choose?!

What if you're the first of your friends to get a new console. How do you decide then?

Whatever has best hardware/OS usually. Last gen it was 360 and this one its PS4. IMO of course before people get annoyed at me :o

Wii U says hello.

I say hello back. The last Nintendo console I owned was a the snes. Loved to bits.

It's nice to see that Nintendo can rely on their own people to continue dishing out real and unique exclusives.

I'd go along with the "Whatever your friends have got", gaming is far more fun with your mates as the biggest decider

Even though I've got a quite powerful gaming PC, I still usually end up on my console for certain multiplayer games (even though the PC version may be far superior) as it's more fun

I guess the "whatever my friends have decision" is understandable. Just shows how similar the two consoles are.

I don't do that. My friends all play Xbox mostly and are planning on getting One's at some point. I have always been Playstation/PC and already have a launch PS4.

They only play COD, Halo and Fifa anyway, so I have no intention of moving over when there are so many more games i prefer on PS consoles (particularly single player)

Still based on exclusive games/features for the most part. I want Uncharted etc more than I want Quantum Break or Dead Rising. I want a more powerful console offering superior visuals more than I want Kinect or the ability to watch TV via my Sky box connected to my Xbox connected to my AV Receiver connected to my TV.

Eventually I'll end up with both as I did last gen, but not for a while yet.

I choose what console I prefer. Online friends are easy to make if your actual friends dont play games ;) Or choose a different console.

There are still enough exclusives to make a decision I think.

Although, the consoles are so similar in terms of performance and overall features, you could almost base your decision on the controller or OS preferences.
