I'm racking my memory to remember the name of a film here - trawled IMDB and Google but my "Google Fu" appears to be as weak as my memory here. :(

Can any other OcUK forumites help please?

I remember the main protagonist had his home broken into and his wife / daughters murdered in front of him. They were subsequently caught and one of them done a deal to be set free. Main character then spends the next few years studying law and working on his revenge eventually being deliberately locked up himself. I also recall him ordering a T Bone Steak and a fancy mattress as perks for releasing information while he was locked up.
 
I have a similar one and it's bugged me for years. I remember watching it with my parents one night when I was staying up late as a wee boy (so safe to say it was out before 2005 or so, probably much earlier though -- I seem to recall it being on Sky (not Sky Digital!). I only remember glimpses of it, but I seem to remember that the main protagonist's girlfriend was called Claudia or something, and she was shot through a letter-box.

The protagonist may have been in jail, then escaped, and the girlfriend may have been shot by the police chasing after the guy. This could well be a memory from another film though...

I always thought it was a Jean Claude van Damme film but I looked at his filmography and could never find it.

Anyone any idea what I'm on about?
