Remembrance Day "We Will Remember Them"

In Flanders Fields - John McCrae said:
In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie,
In Flanders fields.

Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.

Yeah because nothing says apathy like not posting on OcUK.

Because that's exactly what I meant of course! I am merely commenting on the fact that this thread has been open since 29th October and had a measly 60 odd posts whereas a thread on someone's friend splitting up with his girlfriend has managed nearly twice that amount since yesterday... glad to see OcUK people have their priorities straight as always.

Also, I've seen very few people out and about actually wearing a poppy this year. It's a real shame. It seems to me that this forum reflects the apathy shown by the general public this year towards remembrance day. I really hope I'm wrong, but that is the impression given.

Not long now, I'll be having my own 2 minute silence here as no one else gives a damn.

@justin...I hope you don't mind me stealing your sig for today. I forgot to make one.

I adorn my poppy with pride. There is however only a few people wearing them i nwork, which is disgusting.

I'll never forget those who gave up their lives, so that we can live now.

Thank you.

Thank you.

You will never be forgotten.

Well it pretty much was, yes. Using OcUK as the benchmark for public opinion on the sacrifice made by our armed forces seems odd.

Are you sure they're not pinned to their jackets which are hanging up somewhere? Nobody wears them straight on their shirts, surely.

The whole office is due for 2mins silence nothing is allowed to happen.

Lest we forget.
Thank you

Frustrated that I haven't been authorised to attend the school's remembrance service. :(

I'll still be observing the silence from my office, though. I'm not actually wearing my poppy, as such, although it is on my jacket. Reason being we've been carrying equipment around all morning and I don't want to damage it. It's a lovely hand-made one, done by one of the teaching staff. :)

All those who fought were heroes and we should always remember what they gave. Rest in peace.

*sigh* I'm not going to argue with you, this thread isn't for that. Take it as you want, I really don't care what you think to be honest.

Thank you to all those who observed the 2 minute silence. I sat here with tears in my eyes for all the wasted lives. We must remember them.

Did our 2 minute silence here in the school

As I'm incharge of the information screens around the school I've done a theme around todays event lasting the whole week...I've also modified our logo to have a poppy in it :)

I'll always remember
