Hi,

We have persuaded my Dad to replace his old PC with an iMac and are just waiting out a few weeks to see if a new bunch are going to appear or not.

Now my brother and I have endured many, many long and very painful phonecalls with my Dad over the last few years everytime he has had a problem with his PC. My brother is a complete Mac convert and believes Dad will have a much better experience using a Mac.

I am not so fussed what he gets, as long as we have some decent and easy way of taking control of his computer, so we can save us all time and effort when he has a problem or we want to show him something.

So is there anything like Remote Assistance for Apples?

Sorry for the delay replying and thanks very much for the ideas, I have passed them onto my brother and both look like they could really help us.

Cheers :)

EchoVNC and OSXvnc for Macs - host your own echo server (costs £20 for personal use, and allows you to connect to as many vnc servers as you like,) install the vnc server onto the mac and connect it to your server

The free version of the echo server (or their own demo server) will cut the connection every 5-10 mins, but you can just re-connect and resume what you were doing

It also means they do not have to open any ports in the firewall, as all connections are outgoing to the echoserver
