Hey guys,

Having a problem here, just can't get this to work at all.

I'm trying to give my mate remote assistance. At first we tryed the usual way, through MSN - but that didn't work, it said he had it turned off or disabled, yet he did have it enabled...
So we tryed using Windows built in remote control, we both have remote assistance enabled... still didn't work. Also tryed VNC... didn't work either..

We both had our firewalls down to see if it would let us then, and that didn't work either

I don't know if the problem is at my end or his.

We're both behind routers, and I was just typing his IP into the Connect box.
If he's behind a router, would just typing his IP in work? or would I need to do somthing like > 81.255.255.255:LANIP ?

Any help would be awesome.

Also tryed to remote access my computer from another mates house and failed. ^__^

He would need to make sure the ports were open on his router for it to work.

VNC's default port is 5900
Make sure that he forwards it to his LAN IP, for example 192.168.0.12

Then you can connect to his machine using VNC. :)

Logmein is a great alternative but its slow, if you can then i would use VNC which as hybrid said will require port 5900 be forwarded to your friends computer.

Ah, thanks guys ;P

I'll try that.

What if.... this is just a what if, but... what if you wanted to remote assist 2 computer's behind a router? Would you just change the port in VNC on one of the computers and get that port forwarded?

I'll use VNC as you's have said, but why shouldn't I be using the Windows remote desktop? Is that slow too ?

Correct:

Pc 1 = 5900
pc 2 = 5901

You dont have to use the default ports so in reality you could do as many as you wanted :)

I find RDP slow (in general plus you have to login) plus the fact that you can't shadow somebodys session with RDP.

Explain?

There is no installation needed. Trust me

I just downloaded it and it asked me to install it :P

/edit ah fair enough, looks pretty good, will show the peeps in the office, cheers Bro :D

Sweet, had a look at that version, will be a nice product to bring up at the company meeting :D

Registration thing is properly annoying though, can you get rid of that?

Nothing wrong with the builtin RDP. Needs port 3389 forwarding in the router though.

on a client computer, once you've finished doing what you do and close the module it has a popup asking you to register your email address.
