Hi Folks, im looking to set up a remote desktop connection between and XP and Vista computer.. is this possible with the XP one connecting to Vista?

I managed to get VNC working Vista to XP but not vice versa.

Any insights?

As well, im using VNC, I have the server setup on the Vista machine and the viewer on the XP.. every time I go to connect it comes up that it is being reset by peer.. any insights?

Ok i've just checked the XP version, the difference is that my copy of VNC isnt allowing in-bound connections, anyone know how to change that?

I have no idea about Vistas security features.. is there something that might be blocking it?

THis is what it says.

Whereas the XP Version shows the IP on the server..

Probably easier to use Remote Desktop.

To enable:

1. Right click My Computer then click Properties
2. Click Remote Tab
3. Click Allow Users To Remotely Connect To This Computer
4. Click Apply, Click OK

From the computer you want to connect FROM - Click Start, Click Run then type MSTSC and then enter the IP or Name of the Computer (probably best with IP - easier that way) enter your administrative username and password, job done.

?Says here that remote desktopping is enabled... yet when I try to run it from the XP PC it wont work

M.

Says here that remote desktopping is enabled... yet when I try to run it from the XP PC it wont work, i've also tried pinging the other PC, it works from the XP one to Ping the Vista Laptop, but when I try to ping the XP puter, the Ping just times out. Network issue?

Solution found, beacuse there was some sort of instance in Vista stopping this type of program from working, I just had to un-install the VNC service and reboot, then open the program as the ADministrator and its now working fine :)
