This man speaks the truth, there's the option for "Allow connections frm computers running any version of Remote Desktop (less secure)" which will allow XP->VistaYou could update XP's RDP but there's another way.
All you have to do is change the security authentication options on the vista RDP server. You can connect fine then.
I connect to my vista (Ultimate) machine at home using XP in work. I don't update any windows components because its a work one.
I tested it at home fist using an XP laptop, making sure the security settings were right.
Control Panel>System>Remote SettingsCould you possibly explain how to do this? im a bit of a Vista n00b
Probably easier to use Remote Desktop.
To enable:
1. Right click My Computer then click Properties
2. Click Remote Tab
3. Click Allow Users To Remotely Connect To This Computer
4. Click Apply, Click OK
From the computer you want to connect FROM - Click Start, Click Run then type MSTSC and then enter the IP or Name of the Computer (probably best with IP - easier that way) enter your administrative username and password, job done.
?Says here that remote desktopping is enabled... yet when I try to run it from the XP PC it wont work
