Hi guys,

I have recently built a HTPC but need good (free) remote desktop software to connect using my desktop PC, phone etc. Previously I used to use Log me in which was perfect, now Im using Teamviewer but it has an annoying "sponsorship" window which comes up in the middle of the screen once you end the session, which you can imagine is not ideal for a HTPC.

Any one use any others which you would recommend?

Use XBMC as your media centre

Then you can use your phone for browsing and playing media, it's awesome

Yeah this is what i do, but I also use the PC for Streaming etc, so occasionally log on to the PC not just for XBMC

Not sure about XBMC but may be worth looking at plex server or Mediaportal, both support streaming to devices with transcoding.
Comes in handy as i can watch any film/tv show/tv channel, my pc holds on my phone at work at its native resolution or lower depending on bandwidth at the time

If you sign up to a Teamviewer account, I don't think you get the message afterwards when you disconnect..

At least I don't on my server

You could keep using the free LogMeIn / Teamviewer software, and install a small program to close the pop up when it appears, I use a program called clickoff at work ( http://download.cnet.com/ClickOff/3000-2072_4-10041321.html ) to close some annoying popups from some of our compilers, its easy to set up to scan for a specific window and close it. Its small and doesnt use a load of resources.

VNC is good! I like the idea of a prog with config so you doiuble click and it connects. Beats webstuff for me. Teamviewer is aimed at meeting innit? I got that here.

Splashtop (meant to run games)

RDP - Logmein too

try a remote control? like unified remote control?

Depending on which version of Windows you have, you could just enable (hack) multi-session remote desktop and have a separate account for XBMC that's always logged in. Then when you remote desktop to it, it won't lock the screen on the other end.
