Remote internet options

"Top" is a very subjective term. EE are fantastic at my house for example whilst Vodafone is very poor, but when I'm at the office EE is hopeless and Vodafone is the best option. It's well worth trying other options, grab a PAYG SIM for each of the major networks and see what results you get.

Yup - where I am now I'm getting 60-80Mbit/s down on EE, 8Mbit/s on Vodafone (with a bit of messing about with position I might get that up to 19), most of the other networks are like 3Mbit/s unless they use one of the first 2. Where I work EE and VF are reversed and the others are so-so around 20Mbit/s.

Even then it isn't that straight forward - most of the area around my house/village only gets about 40Mbit/s on EE - but I found a spot in my bedroom where speeds basically double - I think because the walls of the house block out some sources of electrical/RF noise as the SNR jumps up from ~10db to ~20.

My mate has Starlink, he lives in rural Lincolnshire. Generally has very good results on it, pings aren't bad, his downstream speed is generally about 130Mbps and dropouts and other issues seem to be quite rare. They happened more often when he first got it but seems to have very few issues now. We game online most nights and it's held up well.

It isn't cheap but his VDSL speeds were absolutely awful and 4G wasn't quick enough.

Mikrotik kit looks interesting - never seen these before - is it just a standalone thing you get to increase 4g connection?

That is the 4G transceiver and the router. And it’s a heck of a router!

You would need a standalone WiFi solution as well though - I would recommend UniFi.
